Pride Parade: Long Term Survivors Contingent

  • Pride Plaza San Diego, California, 92103 United States (map)

Join the San Diego Long Term Survivors as we march in the Pride Parade!

POZabilities is pleased to sponsor once again the contingent of San Diego HIV Long Term Survivors along with supporters, family and friends as we march in the Pride Parade from Pride Plaza to Balboa Park. This parade is the largest one day civic event in the city and regularly draws upwards of 250,000 spectators and participants. Marching here gives us the opportunity to remind the community that we are here and active in our communities. In these days when parts of our government are less supportive of our community this visibility is more important than ever!

For those not able to walk, we have a limited number of seats in golf carts, with preference to those with documented ADA disability needs. The route is just under 1.5 miles and a fun walk with a VERY supportive crowd along the way.

NOTE: If you sign up by July 8, you will receive a free parade t-shirt, If you sign up after July 8, please wear a white t-shirt.

RSVP here to let us know if you plan to walk with us.

If you’d like to check out who has signed up you can browse the RSVP list by clicking the button below:

Here is the info on our line up in the parade as well as safety info:

with our space marked

If your contingent has any motorized vehicles, they must enter the staging area at your designated check-in point and during the check-in time window. A designated driver must be present with the vehicle at all times, not just when your contingent starts moving, so that we are able to move vehicles if necessary. Pride has tried to collect driver, vehicle and insurance information in advance. If you have not provided this information ahead of the event, you will be asked to provide it during check-in, so please arrive prepared. Please note that only vehicles and drivers need to check in, all other participants can arrive later and do not need to check in.

If your contingent does not have any vehicles, designate one person to check in your contingent and pick up your place card at your designated check-in point and time. Only one person per contingent needs to check in during the check-in time window, all other participants can arrive later and do not need to check in.

Assigned Staging Space: Staging space is extremely limited and is only meant to accommodate vehicles that participate in the parade and parade props. Once your contingent starts moving, you can stretch out to whatever space you will need. Please contact us ASAP if you believe the assigned staging space is not sufficient, so we can accommodate your needs.

We are pleased to announce that we again will have a dog care station set-up this year. It will be located on Centre St near the parking lot of the San Diego LGBT Center. Please let everyone who is planning to bring their pooch to the parade know.

Time Estimates: To assist your planning, San Diego Pride provides estimated times at which contingents in your staging zone will start moving toward the step-off point (‘Start Moving’), and an estimate for when your contingent will step off onto the parade route. These are only estimates, and naturally, the higher your contingent number, the less accurate they are. They are meant to help schedule the arrival of your participants. For instance, if your start moving time is 12:30 PM, your marchers do not need to come in at 10 AM. To reiterate, only the person designated to check-in your contingent and all motorized vehicles must arrive during your check-in time window. Everyone else can arrive later.

Please be reminded that alcohol and nudity are absolutely forbidden and will lead to expulsion of your contingent from the parade, either by San Diego Pride or the San Diego Police Department. The same applies to throwing things into the crowd - if you have giveaways, please hand them out - do not throw.
