Healthy Living Programs
2025 was an exciting year for our Healthy Living Program (formerly NExT). We dropped a number of the attendance requirements from prior years, expanded the Strength Training to weekly year round, ended our T’ai Chi classes and added sponsorship of the Yoga classes at the San Diego LGBTQ Community Center. All sessions are held on a drop in basis, no prior registration required.
Strength Training
These sessions are held every week for an hour, weather and trainer availability permitting. These classes have been well attended with up to a dozen attendees. Should we start regularly exceeding this level we can add additional class times. These smaller class sizes ensure that each attendee gets focused attention to ensure they get the most benefit from the combination of stretching and a strength and balance exercise circuit. Our instructor, Nick, has been wonderful in his ability to rapidly assess injury or other issues and recommend alternate exercises to best benefit each attendee as needed.

It has been amazing to watch the level of improvement among the regular attendees and hear their stories about how much it has helped them. We expect to continue this successful program through 2026.
For 2025, we delivered 219 hours of Strength Training to attendees.

Nutrition Classes
The Nutrition Classes continued in 2025, through a partnership with Mamas Kitchen. This is a joint effort between the Healthy Living and Education programs and is described more fully in the Education section of this report.
Other Activities
We entered 2025 with our monthly bike rides in full swing, but have suspended those due to a combination of injuries (unrelated) and scheduling issues. As the leadership of these programs return to full health and mobility we expect to resume more adventurous activities in 2026. More hiking, some biking, and a few special surprises (kayaking maybe?)
